Have you visited the Big Apple?
I speak of the "Big Apple". Not Manhattan, Kansas Affectionately known as "Little Apple" for residents in the Jayhawk State. The little apple has its own character, but perhaps not as colorful as I will describe.
If you've spent time walking the streets of New York, you've seen street vendors. Sell sunglasses, fruit, umbrellas, hats, books, CDs, DVDs, jewelry and many article.
Most vendors exhibit their products in raw tables on the sidewalk. Some sellers sitting on a stool, a magazine to read silently until a passerby stopped at his table. Others are more aggressive, shouting their transactions to anyone within earshot: "Perfume &! For $ 5! A bottle for $ 5! Masculine scent. Ladies $ 5 perfume! $ 5! "
A half-second look at them immediately cause a reaction. "Would you buy a perfume for $ 5? "
You get the idea.
On a recent trip to New York, I met a man wearing a Superman costume. New York is the city is, the suit did not phase me. But he also wore a battered cowboy hat, had a bag slung on each arm, and danced to the music the screams of a jambox mobile (Yes, I wrote jambox. There is the iPod.) overhead, there was a sign: "bag. $ 10."
Superman was a little strong but made up for its size with a big smile. His job was dancing in the street corner, drawing the attention of the crowd. He went straight to the stakeholders to two friends was 15 feet away at a table full of bags of oil. "Bag!" They shouted, "for $ 10! Any scholarships for $ 10!"
It seems I had the type of sales, was the marketing department.
Now what does this have to do with their charity auction?
There are several ways to market a charity auction, and is a fun way to engage their clients the potential for so do not wait. In other words, captures the perspectives of short, bring a smile in your face, and - Heck - might incentive to buy a ticket. Our Superman was doing just that.
Is this crazy idea for your benefit auction?
Heck No! It's fun!
Last spring, one of my clients' auction of the school and promote their circulation charity auction that way. The President of the PTA as a mime dressed to match the theme of Moulin Rouge offer. A week or two before the auction, spent a morning greeting to all parents as they stood in the school parking lot to leave his son. As a mime, he could say anything, but gave all the cars of a brochure advertising the auction and the raffle. The president was close to the auction to meet issues and processing financial transactions.
Corny .... or fun? I would say both. It is a unique way to capture your guests attention when they least expect it. It shows them that their offer is the fun and the game begins ... Now!
If you wish to aid to that idea, consider these tips:
1. Need not demand to be complex.
A great costume. In fact, a simple garment, you can even contribute to the promotion, especially if you expect guests to arrive dressed for the auction. See your costume is like the "norm" and realizes that there is trying to beat someone in a suit, but try to take pleasure in creating an atmosphere.
2. Use a sign written in big letters to help observers make the connection between the suit and its purpose.
If you are selling raffle tickets, the sign should say something like: "Would you buy a ticket lottery for $ 25? If you try to sell tickets auction, the sign should reflect this.
3. Bring auxiliaries.
If you sell something that requires an operation Cash or credit, you need help to manage the sales, as it will be responsible for the promotion. This division of labor.
4. Choose your place with numbers in mind.
You want to promote that there are many, but not where guests are not necessarily expected.
For Auction raising church funds, planners of the auction you want to have their version of Superman to walk through after-service coffee and tea fraternity. The drop or pick-up in a school zone is a good place to promote school charity auction. The nonprofit organizations organized a series of events that want to have the Hidden rights (or woman) make an appearance at the event immediately before the auction as a golf tournament and wine tasting. 5. A "known" entity is better than the "unknown" entity.
Of course, you can hire an actor to wear the suit, but the fun will collapse. This initiative illustrates the potential that your guests will enjoy wearing the auction, because - look! - One of us (board members, for example, parents ... ... deacons) already being prepared in the spirit of the event.
Have fun with it! The auction is an annual fundraising and to be appreciated. Someone with a little of humor likes to play dress to promote his fund-raising event to come.
