The former coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Herm Edwards is famous for his funny comments and varied to reporters during press conferences post-game. For fans who miss that aspect of Edwards in Kansas City, now have a way to get their weekly dose of the views of Edwards. After losing his job with the Chiefs, Edwards has been hired by ESPN as studio analyst for the NFL. The job of having it on television programs such as NFL Live, ESPNEWS, SportsCenter and more. Edwards was fired after the addition of general manager Scott Pioli of the New England Patriots. Edwards was born in New Jersey, but raised in California. He spent a year at the University of California in 1972 as a corner back before spending a year at Monterey Peninsula Junior College. He returned to Cal for the 1975 season before finishing his college career at San Diego State University in 1975 and 1976. San Diego State, played with John Fox and Mike Solari, also going to be NFL coaches. It was selected in 1977 draft, but was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles for the season and made his way to a position of starting at the beginning of his rookie season, and maintained its point of departure for all his nine years with the Eagles. There were 135 consecutive regular-season career starts during its mandate. Before retiring in 1986, also played for the Los Angeles Rams and Atlanta Falcons.
Edwards did not wait to start his coaching career, taking a position as defensive backs coach at San Jose State in 1987, where he remained until 1989. He began his first stint with the Chiefs in 1990 as a scout. After two seasons, was moved to defensive backs coach, replacing Tony Dungy. He stayed as defensive backs coach for three seasons before spend the 1995 season as the heads of pro personnel scout. An old friend, Dungy, was called in 1996. Dungy was now the coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and recruitment Edwards as his assistant head coach / defensive backs coach.
In 2001, after five years with the Buccaneers, Edwards had his first opportunity in a post head coach with the New York Jets. While with the Jets, who led the team to an AFC East title in 2002 and wild card playoffs in 2001 and 2004. It became the coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2006. It took the Chiefs to the playoffs in his first year with the team, the first coach in the head to heads than on his first season. The next two seasons were not as successful for Edwards. The Chiefs finished the 2007 season with a record of 4-12 after high hopes for another postseason career. In 2008, the heads not worse, with a record of 2-14.
